Welcome to the USACM Thematic Conference on Meshfree and Finite Element Methods with Applications

USACM is pleased to welcome you to the thematic conference on Meshfree and Finite Element Methods with Applications, hosted by the Technical Thrust Area (TTA) on Novel Methods in Computational Engineering and Sciences.  The conference will be held at the Claremont Club and Spa in Berkeley, California.  The conference begin with an opening reception on Sunday, September 27, followed by two days of technical talks and discussions.

Meshfree and novel finite element methods have emerged as new classes of numerical methods and play an increasingly significant role in teh study of challenging engineering problems.  New and exciting developments of meshfree and novel finite element methods often go beyond the classical theories, incorporate more profound physical mechanisms, and are becoming exclusive numerical tools in addressing the computational challenges which are difficult or impossible to solve by conventional methods.

The goal of this conference is to bring together academicians, researchers, practicing engineers and scholar students from various industries, research institutes and universities to share the research results of these methods.  In this conference, participants will find a great opportunity to discuss new issues, tackle challenging problems and find advanced enabling solutions which are able to shape new trends in meshfree and novel finite element methods.

The topics of interest in this conference include, but are not limited to:

  • Additive Manufacturing

  • Bioengineering

  • Composite Material

  • Computer Graphics and Animation

  • Damage and Fracture

  • Data Management and Machine Learning

  • Geoscience and Natural Disasters

  • Emergent and New Applications

  • Extreme Events

  • Fluid-structure Interaction

  • Implicit Nonlinear Solver and High-performance Computing

  • Injection Molding and Fluid Flow

  • Multi-scale Computation

  • Novel Numerical Methods
